INTERNATIONAL SCHEMES

International Schemes Generally

International linkages and collaboration are essential to maintain cutting edge research through the exchange of best practices and transfer of ideas and knowledge. Australian researchers are also increasingly looking to international funding agencies to support their research.

This page will provide you with resources to identify funding opportunities to support international research projects, collaborative research, international travel and exchange programmes.

The list of international funding opportunities available here will be updated on a regular basis and below are a number of Australian and International agencies that UNSW researchers have successfully applied to.

If you are applying to International agencies for funding please keep in mind that the internal deadline for receipt of your draft application by Research Services is generally ten working days prior to the external deadline. This deadline allows for a Pre-Award Officer to check your application for compliance with the often very complex grant conditions, gain signature approval of your application by the delegated UNSW representative (usually Janice Besch) and submission of your application to the funding agency. While many international agencies are moving to web based submission of applications (and these are not without their complexities) some still require a hard copy, which can take 3-4 working days for delivery by express courier. Completed RA1 forms are also needed prior to the submission of each application.

Institutional registrations and codes are also often required, please check with your Faculty's Grants Team for details prior to starting your application. A list of some of the more commonly used codes is available here.
