Funding for research grants and fellowships is a competitive process and applications will be assessed against the stated criteria and considered on competitive merit against other applications. New Collaborative Opportunities with the FAO 
The FAO (Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations) has expressed a desire to establish a new collaborative relationship with Australian Universities. They are most interested in Australian expertise, especially relating to capacity building on climate change adaptation and mitigation, agricultural policy, and food security issues. The FAO is also keen to explore other areas of mutual interest.

Library of Successful Research Grants 
The Research Strategy Office houses a library of successful past research applications that researchers have made available to UNSW applicants. To make an appointment to review applications please contact Scott Hoggan (s.hoggan@unsw.edu.au; phone 9385 5600). 
 
The role of the Researcher Development Unit is to provide training and support for UNSW researchers. We work with researchers from all research career stages on topics such as how to create a research strategy, grant writing, track record, networking, publication etc.  
Popular programs include the Future Research Leaders Program, the ECR@UNSW Program and our extensive ARC Linkage and Discovery Program series.

USA to Australia Fellowships 
The American Australian Association is currently accepting invitations for its US to Australia Fellowship program. The program offers fellowships of up to AU$25,000 to American researchers or students wishing to undertake advanced research or study in Australia. Through these fellowships the association encourages intellectual collaboration and innovation, building on the strong social and economic partnerships between Australia and the US. Fields of study/research supported by the fellowships include: Medicine, Life Sciences, Science, Engineering and Mining.

Research Support Program 
Applications are now invited for support under the Australian Government Research Support for National Security program. The current call for applications seeks project proposals in three specific priority areas and studies in two broader areas with national security implications. The priority areas for project proposals are:    Stand-off Detection for Explosives;   Command and Control; and    Cyber Security. The subject areas for studies are: Climate Change, Resource and Energy Security and Transnational and Serious Organised Crime.

Research Grants 
The Foundation for Children is dedicated to raising funds for worthy investment in Australia’s future. The foundation aims to provide financial support for a wide range of projects designed to improve children’s health and welfare, with a particular interest in supporting projects which have difficulties obtaining funding from other sources.

2010 Fulbright Senior Specialist Grant Program 
Applications are now open for Australian Institutions to host a 2010 Fulbright U.S. Senior Specialist. The Fulbright U.S. Senior Specialist Program subsidises Australian educational institutions to bring a U.S. Senior Specialists to Australia for a two to six week period. It encourages collaboration with United States faculty on curriculum and faculty development as well as a variety of other activities. The scholarship provides the approved Specialist with an international airfare and $U.S.200 per day honorarium

The sponsor provides funding for the advancement of education and research in Earth Sciences to the benefit of Economic Geology in Australia. Small Grants Program

Funding of up to $30,000 is available and grants are generally made for a one-year period only

International Science Linkages: Humanities and Creative Arts Program 
The Australian Academy of the Humanities is pleased to call for applications to the International Science Linkages - Humanities and Creative Arts (ISL-HCA) Programme, funded by the Department of Innovation, Industry, Science and Research (DIISR) to support international collaborative research activities in the humanities and creative arts. The International Science Linkages (ISL) Programme aims to facilitate and support research cooperation between Australian researchers and leading counterparts overseas. This new ISL Humanities and Creative Arts (ISL-HCA) Programme will provide targeted support in order to:  promote access and participation for Australian humanities and creative arts researchers in strategically focused, leading edge, international research; and increase strategic alliances between Australian and overseas researchers.

The corporation provides funds to support travel to conferences and workshops that benefit RIRDC industries. Funds may be provided to: provide financial assistance for researchers to present research results to relevant forums. Assist participation in specific, relevant conferences, visits or tours. Assist recognised industry conferences, seminars and workshops by providing support for delegates or speakers and to provide support for international visitors where there are clear benefits for R&D and extension to Australian rural industries.
