CRC Round 12 announced - with only a short period allowed for applications
The Commonwealth has just announced CRC Round 12, with a closing date of 14th August. The short time allowed for applications is disappointing because CRCs are the largest and most complex of all the national grant schemes. The Round 12 guidelines have not yet been released but are unlikely to be much different from those published for the last round at https://www.crc.gov.au/HTMLDocuments/Documents/PDF/CRC%20Program%20Guidelines%20(Nov%202008).pdf .
In the past CRCs were oriented towards science and engineering but this is no longer the case. The current guidelines encourage applications from all fields of research, as long as the focus is on end user collaboration and application. We will update our own website once we have more details about Round 12, but in the meantime a short summary of our approach to CRCs (written for round 12) is still available on the web at http://www.gmo.unsw.edu.au/CentresSecretariat/UNSWparticipationin2009CRCbid.pdf. Please contact Dr Leigh Schwartzkoff (l.schwartzkoff@unsw.edu.au) swiftly if you would like to launch a bid or participate in one led from another organisation.
The Commonwealth is running information sessions for prospective applicants: if you would like to attend, the Sydney session is from 10:00am to 1:00pm on Wednesday 17th June in the Parkes Room, level 47, Trade and Investment Centre, MLC Centre, 19 Martin Place, Sydney - RSVP by 5pm Friday 12 June 2009 to roxanne.ackland@osmr.nsw.gov.au or phone Roxanne on 9338 6787 with your name, organisation and contact phone number.
